GS Drunkerz (Svk)

The 2019 Budapest Fives Trophy Final was the battle for 17th position, a consolation prize and one last game to enjoy on these team's Budapest tour.

The game would be contested by GSF Drunkerz (Svk) and Argon'ze (Fra).

Argon'ze came into the Trophy competition as the 17th ranked team courtesy of their higher points tally in the group phase. They had recorded two wins in the group phase and another win in the Trophy Semi-Final. They had scored 6 goals and conceded just 9 so far. This was a first eurofootballfives.com final for Argon'ze. They had a pretty varied history in the knockout phase of our events having reached Cup SF, Plate SF, Plate QF (x2), Trophy SF and a Trophy QF before. Could they claim their first trophy here?

GSF Drunkerz were the 18th ranked team from the group phase with 4 points from Group B. They had scored 2 in the group phase but were even more solid defensively than their opponents with just 7 conceded. GSF Drunkerz had a pretty formidable record in the knock-out phase in our events – unbeaten in 10 games. Over that period they had 5 wins and 5 draws (won 3 penalty shoot-outs, lost 2). They had a goal difference of 16 goals for and 8 against over that period.

GSF Drunkerz were also aiming for a unique treble. If they were to win this game they would be the first team in eurofootballfives.com history to complete a grand slam of a Cup, Plate and Trophy win in our tournaments!

With two defensively sound teams it was perhaps no surprise that we got a tight match for the final. In fact, a goal in each half would settle it. Miroslav Saga would keep his fourth clean sheet of the tournament for the Slovakian team. Marek Luciak scored the goal in the first half, Michal Horniak made the game safe in the second period.

Congratulations to GSF Drunkerz who finished the day how they would've liked to have started it – with a Trophy. Our commiserations to Argon'ze who we trust had a great day at the Budapest Fives and also a great weekend in the Hungarian capital despite results not exactly going their way. As always, a pleasure to see the guys make the journey from Paris.
