The
9th September 2017 marked our debut in Lithuania
with the 2017 Vilnius Tournament. It proved to
be a historic debut as CIS Committee became the
second team ever to win 4 x eurofootballfives.com
events.
The
Belarus team had already won titles with us in
Bratislava, Budapest and Prague as they added
Vilnius to their collection. They equalled England's
Olympic Phil Babb with 4 titles as the most decorated
team in our history.
They
were made to work hard for it as they were taken
to penalties in the Cup Final by Lilchicago. The
Lithuanian team were making their second appearance
in our tournaments after they debuted in Mallorca
earlier this year. It was an epic penalty shoot
that the Belarus team won 5-4 on spot-kicks.
In
the Plate competition, there was success for LMH
FC who ended the tournament undefeated. They drew
5 of their 7 games, won the other two and collected
two penalty shoot-out wins. In the Plate Final
they defeated 3 Lions FC, 1-0.
The
Top Goalscorer prize was a close run affair with
2 men finishing on 6 goals. Martin Weltman (Shahs
of Sunset) and Vladimir Ciganok (CIS) both scored
6 goals. Martin Weltman scored his goals in 5
games compared to Ciganok's 6 games and so took
the honours.
