At the start of Round 3, we had a superb game in store. Ecuador 100% versus Naranjitos. Both these teams possessed a 100% winning record today but one (or maybe both) of these teams would lose that record at the end of this game. Although relatively early, this looked like it could be the game that decided the Group A winners.

The two teams served up a real treat in what was a really closely contested encounter. Before today, Ecuador 100%'s group record in our tournaments read.

2012: 5 1-1-3 6-12 4

2013*: 5 2-1-2 5-6 7 (Fives)

2013: 5 2-1-2 10-7 7 (Tournament)

2014: 4 1-0-3 3-8 3

2015: 5 4-1-0 12-2 13

2017: 5 3-0-2 9-4 9

2018*: 5 2-2-1 6-4 8 (Fives)

2018: 5 4-1-0 12-4 13

Overall Group: 39 19-7-13 63-47 64

The Ecuadorians had added two more wins today and were on the march for a third when Paul Roman's fourth of the day put them 1-0 up. Naranjitos were resilient though and David Moya Aparicio equalised for 1-1 which is how we ended the first half.

Jose Mosquera then matched his colleague Paul Roman by scoring his fourth of the tournament to restore the lead for Ecuador 100% at 2-1. They could not shake off Naranjitos though as the game finished 2-2. David Moya Aparicio equalised for the second time in the game. Honours even!

Next up we had Gosham Rangers versus Mamamuu French Team. At the start of Round 3 these teams were level on 3 points in 3rd and 4th place in the table. Mamamuu French Team currently held the advantage courtesy of goal difference.

Although this was Gosham Rangers first time at the Mallorca Tournament they had two players who knew this tournament well. Steve Holmes and Mike Smith had both played for Whiteley FC in Europe. Whiteley FC had played 4 times at this tournament before.

2012 Mallorca Tournament: Whiteley Stags reached the Plate Semi-Finals.

2013 Mallorca Tournament: Two teams finished 5th and 6th in the group phase and both exited at the Plate Quarter-Finals stage.

2014 Mallorca Tournament: Began the day with a 2-1 win before results tailed off 2017 Mallorca Tournament: 4th (of 6) Group A. Plate QF exit to Southgate County

Maybe that experience proved valuable as it was Gosham Rangers who took the lead in this one. Mark Sanders was the fan with the midas touch in front of goal with his third goal in as many games. When the second half kicked off Gosham Rangers still had the 1-0 lead intact. They were unable to keep that lead until full time though as Laurent Boulouard scored for the second game running and earn his team a point.

So far in Round 3 we had 1st versus 2nd – game finished in a draw. We then had 3rd versus 4th – game finished in a draw. We now had 5th versus 6th as LMH FC took on Deddington Sea Cats. The two teams were yet to register a point but a win here would see them move within a point of third place and Cup qualification was then very much on the cards.

It was LMH FC who drew first blood thanks to a goal credited to Mark Hornsey. It was the only goal in a relatively serene first half. The second half was explosive though with goals galore.

Deddington Sea Cats then hit back not once but twice to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead. Joe Thornton was the man with both goals. Mark Hornsey then scored again to make it 2-2 and it was game on again.

We were not done yet – Tim Atherton put Deddington Sea Cats 3-2 before arguably the goal that killed off the LMH FC resistance. Joe Thornton's hat-trick goal made it 4-2 to Deddington Sea Cats. His fourth goal of the game made it 5-2 and that's how we finished. It was a superb win for Deddington Sea Cats but a big blow for LMH FC.
