We were at the 2019 Gdansk Tournament Cup Semi-Final stage and from the 14 teams who signed up we were down to the final 4 – already an achievement for those who were still in the hunt for glory. The first Cup Semi-Final would see RAF Boulmer B versus Big Time Krakow.

At the end of the group phase RAF Boulmer B were the second ranked of all the teams in the tournament. They were the Group A winners, had 16 points from 18 games and a +14 goal difference. Only a 2-2 draw in their final game (when already qualified) spoiled a 100% record.

Big Time Krakow were going for their second Cup victory in eurofootballfives.com competition. They were second in Group B due to one defeat against last year's runners-up. They collected 15 points from their 6 games and had a goal difference of +16. This game was set to be a cracker.

It was the Polish team who took the lead. Carlos Diaz Bedmar capitalized on a defensive error to put Big Time Krakow ahead. It was now an uphill task for RAF Boulmer B which got even tougher when Jose Moreira doubled the lead. Liam Parkin of RAF Boulmer B then struck the cross-bar. It could have proved to be a turning point and a different game thereafter. However, Jose Moreira went on to complete a hat-trick and a 4-0 victory for his team.

On paper 4-0 looked like a stroll but that didn't tell the whole story of this match which was much closer in reality. It was the end of the road for RAF Boulmer B but maybe they could take some solace from the fact they enjoyed the top finish of all the travelling teams. Scant consolation I know.

So, who would take their place in the Final from the second Semi-Final? The two teams set to do battle were Fabryka Zieleni (Pol) against Alea Iacta Est (Pol).

These two teams met in the Cup Quarter-Final stage of the 2018 Gdansk Tournament. It was Fabryka Zieleni (playing as Bulota PK) that emerged victorious just over 6 months ago. They were favourites for the tournament today as they boasted a 100% record in the group phase today and had 13 wins out of 14 in eurofootballfives.com competition overall.

Alea Iacta Est had been good today but this was a brand new level. Alea Iacta Est had 4 wins and 2 defeats today. They had the second biggest goal difference today +18 behind their opponents +23. This game could be explosive.

It looked like we would get a repeat of last year's Quarter-Final. Fabryka Zieleni established a 2-0 lead. Dariusz Frost and Lukasz Abryszinski scored the goals. Lukasz Abryszinski was second top scorer at the 2018 tournament with 14 goals. He was now on 15 for today.

Alea Iacta Est were not going to give up though. Pedro Silveira's seventh goal of the tournament reduced the deficit to 2-1. Into the final minute of the game and Alea Iacta Est almost snatched a draw and a penalty shoot-out. A cross from the right saw Jakub Szlezinger unmarked at the far post 5 yards out but he couldn't quite reach it, the ball was fizzed across and just too high on the half volley as the ball was poked over the target.

For Alea Iacta Est it was another tournament exit at the hands of Bulota PK/Fabryka Zieleni. For their opponents it was successive Cup Finals at the Gdansk Tournament.
