Location:

This 3-star hotel is within 15 minutes drive of Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam city centre. All tourist attractions in and around Amsterdam can easily be reached by public transport. You are 10 minutes from Leidesplein and a further 10 minutes from Centraal Station with the main nightlife areas such as Rembrandtplein between these two points and within walking distance.

Rooms:

The HEM Hotel Amsterdam has 218 guestrooms, spread over four floors in three interconnecting buildings. Rooms on floors one and four offer more traditional style decor with chequered fabrics and blue colour scheme. Guestrooms on the second and third floors are decorated in a more contemporary fashion with modern, dark wood furnishings and earth tones.

All guestrooms provide pay satellite television, work desks with direct-dial phones, wireless Internet access (surcharge), and climate control. Tiled bathrooms have walk-in showers and hair dryers.

Services:

Wifi is free of charge only in the lobby. Luggage Storage, Garden, Heating, Non-Smoking Rooms, Terrace, Bar, Parking , All Public and Private spaces non-smoking, Elevator, 24-Hour Front Desk, Safety Deposit Box, Billiards. In the res taurant a breakfast buffet is served from 06:30 to 10:00. In the food corner you can enjoy a small snack or meal from 12:00 to 23:00. During the summer you can enjoy a drink on the large patio. Brasserie/Bar serves beers and light meals, such as sandwiches and fried croquettes. It has a pool table, darts board and shows big-screen sports.

Our Opinion:

If you want to be in the very centre of Amsterdam without paying the earth then hostel accommodation is the way forward. However, if you want to be close to the action and get some extra comfort and luxury then the Mercure or the HEM Hotel is a great option and we have negotiated an excellent price for you. At only 10 minutes into the centre of Amsterdam (Leidseplain) by tram there is no hardship. You could always take a bottle on the way for the journey. Plus also - just think how much you may appreciate the sauna to soothe the football aches or sweat out last night's beer!

The hotel has been renovated and the lobby, bar, breakfast area and all of the rooms look as new!
