Accommodation in Barcelona is not cheap but hostels are very good. The general image of a youth hostel is a manky old, run down flea-pit. That is not the case in Barcelona. In many cases the hostels are better than 2* and some 3* hotels. Hostels in Barcelona are often very modern, very well-catered and very comfortable. We have chosen the three best hostels in Barcelona for you.

Location:

The hostel is located one step away from Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, in the most elegant avenue and the best architectural walk in the city. The quantity and quallity of modernist buildings you can find in this street is unrivalled not only in Barcelona but in any city of the world: The Passeig de Gracia. See, you do learn something everyday! Seriously though, you could not really want for much of a better location than the Centric Point. You are bang in the centre of all you need to be in the centre of.

Rooms:

The property has more than 400 beds from twin rooms to 12-bed dormitories. The prices quoted are for dorms. Bed linen and towels are included in the price. Breakfast is also included. Some rooms are en-suite, some have shared bathrooms.

Services:

Huge bar and common room, with satellite TV, and music. Free broadband internet access. 24 hour reception, 24 hour hot showers, no curfew, self-catering facilities if required and lockers in all dorms.

Our Opinion:

The Centric Point used to be a 5* hotel that was not performing too well so it has been converted into a hostel and a very good one at that. The location is excellent, the service is good, the dorms are tidy and functional. To make an expensive city like Barcelona good value for a sports tour we see this as the way forward.
