The 2008 eurofootballfives.com season continued under the glorious sunny skies of Portugal 's Algarve coast. We could not have asked for better weather – blue skies, good temperatures and a nice breeze to prevent it from feeling too hot. The perfect weather for football.

Not only that but the wind was put up many of the players thinking Steven Gerrard had turned up to play when spotted at Faro airport. Rumour has it he had brougt his boots and everything until being approached by a strange man in a pink hat which swayed him into flying off to Wayne Rooney's stag do in Ibiza instead.

Even without Steven Gerrard, 8 teams from England and Portugal assembled to represent Premiership clubs past and present to battle it out for the chance to become 2008 Premiership In… Portugal champions.

The teams would play one group of eight with the top 4 teams progressing to the semi-finals and final. Teams finishing in 5 th to 8 th place would qualify for a place in the beer tent, the chance to relax their weary limbs, catch some rays and watch the knock-out stages unfold.

Please read on to see how the action developed over a great day of competition.
